Independent digital engineering

Built to stand apart.

Distinctive websites, business systems, and mobile applications. Designed with intent. Engineered for the real world.

Thoughtful design. Uncompromising engineering.
THE ZERO FORMDESIGN × ENGINEERING
The two halves of the DEV0SEC symbol are assembled.
THE DEV0SEC STANDARD

The difference
is in the details.

What people see should feel exceptional. What they don’t see should be just as considered.

We bring design, development, and security into one conversation — from the first sketch to the system behind it.

01Services

One team.
Every layer.

From the first impression to the infrastructure behind it. Design and engineering, held to the same standard.

Websites that feel like products.

High-performance websites designed around brand, experience, conversion, and performance.

  • Brand-led art direction
  • Design systems and component libraries
  • Core Web Vitals budgets, enforced in CI
  • Headless CMS and content modelling

02The concept collection

Ideas made
tangible.

Six ideas you can step inside. Try the workflows, explore the details, and see the product thinking behind each interface.

Study / 001Operations

One surface. Every location.

Interactive concept

Multi-branch operations platform

A single surface for scheduling, staffing, inventory and reporting across several locations, with role-scoped access for every team.

Switch locations. Review a restock. Try working offline.

Design requirements

  • Scales to tens of thousands of records without client-side lag
  • Every mutation is attributable and reversible

More possibilities

02 — 06
02Clinical scheduling and records

A fictional clinic workspace: book and move appointments, check in patients, and explore coordinator and clinician views.

Design requirements

  • — Patient and practitioner conflicts checked before booking
  • — Clear visit states, reversible cancellation and a visible activity trail

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Local state

Explore the clinic workspace
03An editorial objects store

An expressive storefront for a fictional objects collection, with original product illustrations, finish selection and a working shopping bag.

Design requirements

  • — Clear finish choices and variant-specific sample stock
  • — Keyboard-accessible product panels and an honest demo review

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Original SVG

Explore the storefront
04Counter, kitchen and stock

A fictional neighbourhood kitchen with a working order builder, modifier choices, stock limits and an offline ticket queue.

Design requirements

  • — Tickets move from counter to preparation to ready
  • — Shared sample stock, integer-cent totals and visible queued orders

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Original SVG

Explore the counter & kitchen
05A mobile day planner

A mobile experience for a fictional city: discover places, arrange a day plan and keep changes visible through a simulated offline workflow.

Design requirements

  • — Local edits stay separate from the simulated synced copy
  • — Accessible navigation, stop ordering and clear time budgets

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Original SVG

Explore the mobile app
06Internal analytics layer

An interactive decision workspace with location and period filters, comparable metrics, daily drill-down and a working CSV export.

Design requirements

  • — Chart, metrics and summaries derived from the same sample dataset
  • — Weighted averages, matched comparison periods and inspectable exports

Next.js / React / TypeScript / Local CSV export

03Approach

Design is only half the work.

An interface can look finished and still be wrong underneath. We work the whole chain — from the commercial problem to the deployment pipeline — because the quality of a product is decided across all of it, not just on the surface.

The governing idea

The surface is the easy part. We spend our effort on the parts that decide whether the product still works in year two.

  1. 01

    Strategy

Who this is for, what it must change, and what would make it fail.

  2. 02

    Design

Interface, interaction model and visual language — designed as a system, not a set of screens.

  3. 03

    Engineering

Architecture, data model and performance budgets agreed before the first component is built.

  4. 04

    Security

Trust boundaries, authorisation model and abuse cases treated as design inputs.

  5. 05

    Testing

Functionality, responsiveness, accessibility and adversarial review on every release candidate.

  6. 06

    Deployment

Progressive rollout, observability and a maintenance loop that keeps the product current.

04Security-minded engineering

Security is part of the engineering process.

Security isn't something we bolt onto a finished product. We consider it from architecture to deployment — which means the decisions that create risk are made early, when they're still cheap to change.

Defence in depthREQUEST ↓

Each layer is designed for its own failure modes, then tested against them before anything ships.

What that looks like in the code

app/api/orders/[id]/route.tsTypeScript
export async function PATCH(req: Request, ctx: Ctx) {  const input = UpdateOrder.safeParse(await req.json());  if (!input.success) return problem(400, "invalid_input");   const actor = await session.require(req);  const order = await orders.find(ctx.params.id);   // Object-level check — never trust the client's id alone.  if (!order || !can(actor, "orders:write", order)) {    // 404 rather than 403: a missing record is not confirmed to a    // caller who is not allowed to know it exists.    return problem(404, "not_found");  }   const next = await orders.apply(actor, order, input.data);  return Response.json(next);}

Illustrative pattern — our own example, not client code.

The full checklist

No software is 100% secure. What we commit to is making risk visible early, and reducing it deliberately at every layer.

05Capability

A deliberately narrow stack.

We keep the toolchain small enough to hold in our heads and current enough to stay supported. Boring, well-understood technology is a feature when the product has to keep working.

01

Frontend

  • Next.js
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Motion
02

Backend

  • Node.js
  • Python
  • FastAPI
  • REST
  • GraphQL
03

Mobile

  • React Native
  • Flutter
  • Expo
04

Data

  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • Prisma
05

Infrastructure

  • Docker
  • CI/CD
  • AWS
  • Google Cloud
  • Vercel
06

Security

  • OAuth / OIDC
  • TLS everywhere
  • CSP & secure headers
  • Dependency scanning
  • Offensive review

This is the stack we reach for by default. If a project genuinely needs something outside it, we will say so and explain why.

06 / The delivery plan

Clarity at
every step.

You should always know what we are building, why it matters, and what comes next.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand the business, users, constraints and objectives.

    A shared brief

  2. 02

    Architect

Define the technical architecture and product structure.

    A system blueprint

  3. 03

    Design

Create the interface, interaction model and visual language.

    An interactive prototype

  4. 04

    Build

Develop the product with performance and maintainability in mind.

    Working software

  5. 05

    Validate

Test functionality, security, responsiveness and usability.

    A release checklist

  6. 06

    Launch

    Deploy, monitor and continuously improve.

    A handover and launch plan

07About

We build software from both sides.

DEV0SEC is an independent digital engineering company. We take on websites, business management systems, mobile applications and custom software — and we stay involved through deployment and maintenance rather than handing over a folder and disappearing.

DEV0SEC was founded by an engineer with a background in offensive security. That changes how we build: we read the requirements looking for the failure modes, we treat trust boundaries as design decisions, and we expect to be able to explain why every part of a system exists.

We approach software from both sides: how it should work, and how it can fail.

Boundaries

  • We don't take on work we can't staff with senior engineers.
  • We don't ship a build that hasn't been reviewed adversarially.
  • We don't lock you into a platform we can't hand over.
Next step

Your nextgreat thing.

Tell us what you're trying to build. We'll help turn the idea into a product.

No pitch deck required. A description of the problem is enough to start.

What a first reply looks like

  • 01A reply from an engineer, not a sales desk.
  • 02An honest read on whether we're the right fit.
  • 03A rough shape for scope, sequence and cost.

We take on a small number of projects at a time so the work stays senior.
